The Samaruc is an endangered fish that typically does not exceed 8 cm in length. It has a slender body but is slightly compressed in the head region with a supraterminal mouth. Its fins are rounded, and its coloration is an iridescent brown on the dorsal surface, becoming lighter towards the ventral area. It usually forms cohesive groups in its habitat.
Currently, the Samaruc can be found in the waters of Comunitat Valenciana and Catalunya.
